ABOUT ISQE'2008

THE SCHOOL

The Fifteenth International School on Quantum Electronics "Laser Physics and Applications" will take place in September 2008 on the Black Sea coast. This is a traditional event, organized biennially since 1978 by the Institute of Electronics at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences with the purpose of providing a meeting place for researchers mainly from Eastern and Central European countries. Leading scientists are invited to deliver lectures on "hot" topics in the fundamentals of laser physics and applications of lasers, grouped as follows:

  1.   Laser — matter interactions
  2.   Laser spectroscopy and metrology
  3.   Laser remote sensing and ecology
  4.   Lasers in biology and medicine
  5.   Laser systems and nonlinear optics

Poster sessions for the participants will also be organized on the above mentioned and related topics. An area of about 1 m2 (A0-page) will be made available to each poster.

At the end of the school a certain number of selected poster will be acknowledged for oral presentation. The eligible candidates must be aged under 35 and must present the poster for which they are a co-author. An international commission will assess the applying poster presentations observing the following criteria:

  • Scientific value and novelty of the presented results, motivation of the work
  • Presentation skills of the candidate - structuring and lucidity of ideas
  • Poster outlook - structuring, clearness, data presentation
